University of Belgrade – Faculty of Organizational Sciences welcomed a delegation from the University of Rostock, Germany, on 24 and 25 October 2023. The Rostock delegation included Prof. Kurt Sandkuhl, Ph.D., who serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering and Chair of the Department for Business Information Systems. Joining him were three members of the Department: Prof. Michael Fellmann, Ph.D., Anne Gutschmidt, Ph.D.-Ing, the course director, and Mr Nikola Ivanović, a research associate. The primary objective of this visit was to explore potential avenues for collaboration between two faculties of the University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Organizational Sciences and the School of Electrical Engineering, and the University of Rostock – Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.
The initial day of the visit commenced with a warm welcome, after which the Rostock delegation had a meeting with the representatives from the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, including Prof. Sandra Jednak, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for International Cooperation, Prof. Dragana Makajic Nikolić, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Slađan Babarogić, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Information Systems, Prof. Ivan Luković, Ph.D., from the Department of Information Systems, Prof. Dejan Simić, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Information Technology, Mr Darjan Radovanović, the FON secretary, and Ms Sonja Ivančević, Jr. researcher and a coordinator for studies in English. During the first part of the meeting, both faculties’ representatives provided comprehensive introductions to their institutions, departments, and academic programs. This laid the foundation for a robust discussion on potential areas of collaboration. The latter part of the meeting delved into more detailed discussions, focusing on the challenges and requirements associated with various modes of cooperation.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Rostock delegation delivered a presentation about the city of Rostock and the University of Rostock to FON students. The presentation encompassed the Business Information Systems study programs and showcased selected research activities within their department. The students showed keen interest, engaging in a discussion with the visiting delegation.
On the following day, after their visit to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Rostock delegation reconvened at FON. Their second meeting with the representatives of FON was also attended by Prof. Jelica Protić, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at the School of Electrical Engineering University of Belgrade as well as Ms Danijela Estermann-Pavlica, the manager of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Office) Serbian office. The meeting centred on exploring the ways in which DAAD can support and facilitate various forms of cooperation between the two universities. After the official meeting, informal discussions about potential cooperation continued. Following this, the visiting delegation had the opportunity to explore the Faculty’s facilities and gain insights into the work of the Research and Development Center.
