The visit of students and employees from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics from Varaždin

Students and employees of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb, visited the Faculty of Organizational Sciences from March 5th to March 7th, 2024. This visit is one in a series of mutual visits between the two faculties over the past few years. 

The Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON) was visited by 24 students from the first, second, and third years of undergraduate and master’s studies of the following study programs: Information and Business Systems, Organization of Business Systems, Networked Systems and Computer Games, Databases and Knowledge Bases, Information and Business Systems, Entrepreneurship Economics, and IT Business Support. Additionally, the delegation from FOI consisted of 9 employees, including: Prof. Dr. sc. Marina Klačmer Čalopa, Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. sc. Martina Tomičić Furjan, Vice-Dean for Science, Projects, and International Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. sc. Zlatko Stapić, Vice-Dean for Education and Students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. sc. Ivan Malbašić, Vice-Dean for Business and Human Resources, Prof. Dr. sc. Neven Vrček, Prof. Dr. sc. Igor Balaban, Assoc. Prof. Dr. sc. Iva Gregurec, Assistant Prof. Dr. sc. Katarina Pajur Aničić, and Martina Đuras Sekovanić, Mag. oec.

 

On the first day of the visit, the guests were welcomed and greeted by Prof. Dr. Sandra Jednak, who also introduced the Faculty to the guests. Following that, Professor Martina Tomičić Furjan, along with her students, presented FOI and student organizations, including the Student Council, FOI Business Club, St@k, and the Academic Choir. The guests were also addressed by Stefan Kovačević, the president of the Student Parliament, and David Ković, a student vice-dean from FON, after which presentations of FON’s student organizations followed: Case Study Club BCA, Student Union, Student Alliance, FON Career Development Center, Student Association, AIESEC, ESTIEM LG Belgrade, FONIS, SportFON, Buffet, and EcoFON. 

 

During the tour of the Faculty’s premises, the students visited the Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Entrepreneurship Service (IRTz), where they were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Dušan Barać, Vice-Dean for Digital Development. He extended a warm welcome to them and, together with his colleagues Ana Miličević and Jovana Rakićević, presented the current programs of IRTz. Three student startup teams participating in the current “Route2Launch” pre-incubation mentoring program at FON were introduced. Furthermore, students from both faculties engaged in mutual introduction and interaction through a game of Bingo.

 

On the second day of the visit, the students visited the company Nelt, one of the strategic partners of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences. There, they were introduced to the human resources, sales, and IT departments, followed by a tour of the warehouse facilities. After this visit, the students participated in the International Info Day organized by the Faculty, where Martina Đuras Sekovanić from the Office of International Cooperation presented FOI as an opportunity for student exchange with FON. Finally, the guests enjoyed a panoramic view of the city, visited the Temple of Saint Sava, and toured the Kalemegdan fortress with a tourist guide, allowing them to learn about numerous cultural, historical, demographic, architectural, and other facts about Belgrade.

 

As part of this three-day visit, a meeting of the management of both faculties was held, attended by representatives from FOI: Prof. Dr. sc. Marina Klačmer Čalopa, Dean; Assoc. Prof. Dr. sc. Martina Tomičić Furjan, Vice-Dean for Science, Projects, and International Cooperation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. sc. Zlatko Stapić, Vice-Dean for Education and Students; Assoc. Prof. Dr. sc. Ivan Malbašić, Vice-Dean for Business and Human Resources; Prof. Dr. sc. Neven Vrček; Prof. Dr. sc. Igor Balaban. From FON, attendees included: Prof. Dr. Milan Martić, Dean; Prof. Dr. Sandra Jednak, Vice-Dean for International Cooperation; Prof. Dr. Dušan Savić, Vice-Dean for Undergraduate Studies; Prof. Dr. Dragana Makajić Nikolić, Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies; Prof. Dr. Veljko Jeremić, Vice-Dean for Science and Research; Prof. Dr. Marko Mihic, Vice-Dean for Strategic Development and Cooperate Affairs; Prof. Dr. Dušan Barać, Vice-Dean for Digital Development; Darjan Radovanović, Secretary of the Faculty; and Bojana Ivanović Bovan, International Relations Officer. Discussions at the meeting focused on exchanging experiences regarding the latest activities of both institutions in the fields of teaching at all study levels, research, digitalization, international cooperation, and collaboration with industry.
