The NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo is one of the world’s leading events in the field of international education, bringing together higher education institutions, international offices, organizations, and professionals dedicated to advancing global academic cooperation. This year’s conference was held under the theme “Global by Design”, focusing on strategically shaping the future of international education through innovation, partnerships, and sustainable models of collaboration.

During the conference, FON representative Bojana Ivanović Bovan, International Relations Officer, had the opportunity to promote the Faculty, the University of Belgrade, and Serbia as an attractive destination for studying, research, and the development of international partnerships, as well as to exchange experiences with institutions from around the world. In addition to FON, Serbia was represented at the Study in Serbia initiative booth by Marija Filipović Ožegović, Director of the Tempus Foundation, Tijana Tošić on behalf of the initiative, Prof. Dr Vesna Lopičić from the University of Niš, as well as Marina Jovanović and Tamara Cicmil representing the University of Belgrade.

NAFSA 2026 in numbers:
- More than 350 exhibitors represented institutions and organizations from nearly 50 countries;
- The conference brought together thousands of participants from more than 100 countries worldwide;
- The programme featured more than 200 sessions, workshops, and presentations;
- Participants could choose from 18 thematic tracks covering topics such as international mobility, digitalization of education, sustainability, emerging technologies, partnerships, and the future of higher education.
Participation in the NAFSA conference represents an important step towards further strengthening FON’s international visibility, developing new partnerships, and connecting with the global academic community, in line with the Faculty’s strategic commitment to the internationalization of education and research.
