At the Conference on the Development of Organizational Sciences, held last week in Portorož on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, the deans of faculties from Belgrade, Varaždin, and Kranj signed a memorandum of cooperation. The aim of this agreement is to strengthen inter-institutional connectivity in the areas of education, research, and development in the domains of organizational sciences and informatics.
The memorandum was signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences at the University of Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Marko Mihić, the Dean of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics at the University of Zagreb, Prof. Dr. Marina Klačmer Čalopa, and the Dean of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences at the University of Maribor, Prof. Dr. Polona Šprajc.
The cooperation covers the following areas:
- Joint research projects and academic programmes;
- Exchange of students, researchers, and teaching staff;
- Organisation of joint conferences, seminars, workshops, and other academic activities;
- Joint publication of research results and academic papers;
- Exchange of educational materials, scientific and technological information, and other relevant resources and
- Organisation of the annual event “Organizational Sciences Day”, which will be hosted every year by one of the faculties.
The Dean of FON, Prof. Dr. Marko Mihić, emphasised the significance of the memorandum: “This agreement represents an important step in strengthening academic cooperation in the region. It enables us to jointly develop educational and research projects, exchange knowledge and experience, and prepare students and teaching staff for the challenges of the modern labour market. I believe that this kind of cooperation will raise awareness and contribute to greater international recognition of organizational sciences, and will further connect the academic community.”

The first meeting and continuation of cooperation following the signing of the memorandum is planned within the SymOrg conference, to be held on Kopaonik from 10 to 12 June. The deans and representatives of the three faculties will participate in the International Forum of Organizational Sciences panel, incorporating regional companies operating in Serbia, providing an additional opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experience between the academic and business sectors.
The Dean of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences at the University of Maribor, Prof. Dr. Polona Šprajc, stated: “The signing of the memorandum represents a significant opportunity for even closer cooperation between the staff and students of all the faculties. I believe that the Organizational Sciences Days will become a central platform for the exchange of good practices, joint projects, and initiatives that develop student competencies and enhance research capacities. This is also a step towards strengthening inter-institutional connectivity and creating a shared academic space that enables the continuous development of the profession.”
In the future, staff and students of all three faculties are expected to regularly participate in the Organizational Sciences Days, which will be dedicated to the exchange of experiences, the development of joint research and educational projects, and the further strengthening of cooperation between the institutions.
