FON Summer School 2024: Sustainable Practice in the Financial Industry

The Faculty of Organizational Sciences organized the third international Summer School titled: Sustainable Practice in the Financial Industry, from July 15th to 19th, 2024. At the opening of the school, Prof. Dr. Sandra Jednak greeted all participants and lecturers, welcomed them on behalf of the faculty, and presented the Faculty. After that, Prof. Dr. Slađana Benković and Prof. Dr. Miloš Milosavljević introduced the participants to the theme of the school and presented the lecturers and topics they would encounter during the 5 days of activities. 

This year’s school theme is focused on “Sustainable Practice in the Financial Industry” and is intended for final-year undergraduate and master’s students. The program aims to enhance academic and practical skills in management, organization, information systems, technology, and other STEM areas. Participants develop new skills useful for their further studies or careers, while building lasting friendships with students from other countries. The program balances time for learning with relaxation, extracurricular activities, cultural events, and exploring Belgrade. 

This year’s summer school participants included 22 students from seven countries: France, Germany, Turkey, Russia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. In addition to the FON faculty members, the lecturers at the summer school included: Prof. Dr. Slađana Barjaktarević Rakočević, Prof. Dr. Veljko Dmitrović, Prof. Dr. Dragan Bjelica, Assistant Prof. Dr. Milica Latinović, Assistant Prof. Dr. Marko Ćirović, Assistant Prof. Dr. Nemanja Milanović, Assistant Prof. Dr. Milan Radojičić, Assistant Prof. Dr. Željko Spasenić, Jovana Rakićević, Ivan Todorović, Miloš Parežanin, Anđelija Đorđević Tomić, and Andrijana Džamić. Guest lecturers from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics at the University of Zagreb included Tena Jagačić and Jelena Gušić Munđar, as well as industry experts such as Sandra Živković from Banca Intesa.  

On the last day of the program, students divided into five teams tackled a case study assigned by Banca Intesa on the topic: “Facilitating Air Pollution Reduction via Tailored Credit Solutions”. After several hours of preparation, they presented their solutions to a jury composed of: Prof. Dr. Miloš Milosavljević, Associate Professor at FON, Ms. Sandra Živković and Ms. Marija Savić from Banca Intesa, and Prof. Dr. Jasmina Dlačić, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Rijeka. The best presenter was Dunja Knežević from the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, and the winning team consisted of students Mina Petrović and Nenad Paunović from FON, Ivan Šešić from Croatia, and Ekaterina Tiurina and Maria Shapovalova from Russia.

 

During the summer school, students engaged in extracurricular activities in addition to their academic sessions, including a sightseeing tour of Belgrade and an excursion to Sremski Karlovci, Petrovaradin, and Novi Sad.
